Born in Barcelona, Spain and raised in Puerto Rico, Yarisely showed artistic and design abilities at a young age. She was always drawing and moving her bedroom furniture around and playing with different accessories to make it look and feel better. She took drawing lessons with the late Puerto Rican painter Andy Bueso and later studied drawing at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas in San Juan.
Graduated with a BA in Communications, concentrating in Visual Arts from the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, and after graduating she started working as a graphic designer by day, and went on to study Interior Design by night at the San Juan School of Interior Design. That’s when she realized what her passion was and went abroad for further training.
She traveled through Spain, Denmark, Sweden and Finland and immersed herself in all their rich culture, history, architecture and design. She studied Scandinavian Furniture Design at Danmark Design Skole. Then in cosmopolitan NYC, she later graduated with a Master of Science in Interior Design from Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, NY and started her professional experience working with renowned Interior Designers such as Jonathan Adler and Jamie Drake.
After six years in NYC, Yarisely returned to Puerto Rico to start her own design firm, BENERO DESIGN. Having been exposed to so many rich cultures, has been a great influence and continues to be a part of her inspiration.
Yarisely participated in the first and third edition of the Puerto Rico Designer's Home, (in Montehiedra Town Center, in the fall of 2011 and most recently in Plaza Las Américas, in the fall of 2013). This is a show house where a group of local interior designers competed, and the winners designed a home on an empty lot space inside of a shopping mall. She also participated in the Home Decor Fair in Plaza Las Américas, in October of 2011, where she gave a brief lecture on Bricolage.
She's been profiled a couple of times in the blog Agrochic.com; in the Revista de Construcción and in the Por Dentro section, both in El Nuevo Día, the newspaper with the biggest circulation in the Island. She’s also written articles featured in Revista Area and Modo de Vida Magazine. Yarisely also collaborates with Air Master Windows and Doors as their spokesperson and design expert. Currently, Yarisely has her own interior design column "Entorno" in "Revista Antesala" published in the Laredo Morning Times and is also an active collaborator in DVINO Magazine, both in Laredo, Texas.
